My passion for postpartum work is the result of going through my own traumatic birth and postpartum experiences. Despite being surrounded by a wonderful partner and fantastic family, I felt in over my head after the birth of both of my daughters (born just 17 months apart). I found myself having a hard time asking for help, partly because I was in such a fog I didn’t know what I needed.
As I emerged from this fog of postpartum life, it was crystal clear to me that my purpose in life is to help others through it. With a bachelors degree in Hospitality Business from Michigan State University, I pride myself on being able to anticipate the needs of others before needing to be asked. I am an experienced, non-judgmental doula who wants to make your postpartum journey something you will always look back on with fond memories.
Lovely day at my client's house today! Her toddler started back at daycare and all she wanted to do was snuggle her baby, so that’s what she did! While they
were snuggling I made her some lunch (avocado toast with scrambled eggs) and a big pot of butternut squash soup 🤤🤤 folded two loads of laundry and cleaned up the kitchen before calling it a day!
I’m currently booking clients for March-July so if you or someone you know is pregnant feel free to reach out and chat

I started working with a new family this week (as a Postpartum Doula) and it’s been so fun talking to my girls about it. Ruby loves hearing about the new babies and
looking at pictures I take to show her 🥰
I was getting my bag packed today and thought I’d share what’s in my doula bag! 👜
•Lillebaby carrier. I love this thing! If the family im with doesn’t have a carrier I let them borrow mine for the duration of our time together (I only take on one client at a time so I never need it outside their house anyways). I’ll also use it a ton to hold the baby while I get some things done around the house while the new parents rest!
•flax & chia seeds. Most households have the basic ingredients for a great peanut butter/oat ball, so I’ll usually end up making those at some point but I like to sprinkle in some added nutrients for mom and baby. Great snack for breastfeeding!
•notebook & pen. I jot down everything from babies sleep, feeding & diapers as well as what sort of tasks I accomplished while I was there so the family knows exactly what’s been going on while they got some precious rest 🤩
•Force of Nature multi purpose cleaner & washable rags. This stuff is the greatest, look it up!
•grippy socks. Just an extra precaution so I never slip while holding someone’s baby. I also find them super cozy and supportive. 🧦
•water bottle. Need to take good care of myself so I can help take care of my clients family as well as my own ❤️

Thought I was booked through March but this sweet little dude landed on my calendar this week 🙂 spent the morning with him and his mama doing all sorts of things from
working on feeding positions to writing thank you cards!
When i suggested I check a few thank you cards off her to do list while she took a gentle walk with her dog her jaw DROPPED 😂 let’s be real, nobody likes writing thank you cards, especially not a brand new mom 🤷🏻♀️ she got some fresh air & alone time and her dog was VERY happy. Win win win!

This week I finished up working as a Postpartum Doula for one family and had the opportunity to go meet the next family I’ll be working with! I like to make one
✔️
prenatal visit to get to know everyone and see the space. Last thing a new mom needs is me waking her from a nap to ask where the laundry detergent is… so we go over that sort of stuff before the baby comes, and just get to know each other!
I can’t thank these families enough for trusting me in their homes and with their children 🥺. It’s also such a privilege to be a sounding board for moms. Someone to talk through problems ranging from feeding and sleeping to fears regarding postpartum anxiety and depression.
I went through a LOT to bring my babies into the world and it’s given me a compassion for postpartum moms that I never could have imagined.
It’s an honor to be there with families as they welcome home a new addition to their family (my first three clients have welcomed home their first baby, second baby and third baby!).

At one point I debated starting a meal prep business. I’ve always loved prepping food! Becoming a Postpartum Doula truly checks all my boxes ✔️✔️✔️
Today I prepped some bacon, egg & cheese breakfast burritos for my client! 🤤 Great to put in the freezer and pop in the microwave for a quick (and one handed 😉) breakfast or snack!

“So someone hired you to hold their baby while she sleeps during the day?? 🤔”
I will never forget the first few months with ruby. The sweet girl had such a
hard time connecting sleep cycles (and I had no idea what sleep cycles were). She would nap in her crib for 40 minutes on the dot and then wake up screaming and exhausted. I realized I could stay in her room and rock her in my arms and she’d finish her nap. It seemed if she didn’t “finish the nap” she would be so cranky and often slept even worse at night from being overtired (I didn’t know babies slept worse when they were overtired!).
So I rocked her in her room. Multiple times a day, everyday. It was the only way she would sleep. I could NOT see the light at the end of the tunnel and thought I would be sitting in her dark room trapped forever. I felt trapped. I couldn’t get much done in the 40 minutes she would be in her crib (plus I was told to sleep when the baby slept, so I had such a short window to rest!).
Looking back, the idea of a trained professional rocking my baby a few times a month while I could get some serious rest would have made SUCH a difference. If I could have laid in my bed for four hours during the day while someone cared for my baby and did some laundry and wiped my counters…well, maybe I wouldn’t have had postpartum depression? Or maybe I still would have, but that trained professional probably would have seen the signs and realized it much sooner than I did.
Looking back on that experience and writing this while sitting in a dark room rocking someone else’s baby while they have some time to themselves to relax makes it feel like such a full circle experience. I’m just so, so happy to be serving as a postpartum doula in this way 🙏🏻

Another Doula Day 💓💓
This little babe wasn’t into napping in her crib yesterday, so I gave mom & dad a break while babe took a real good nap and caught up on
some sleep since she had clearly become overtired. After that the little peanut helped me whip up some dairy free caprese frittatas 🤤🤤 Laundry was folded, counters were cleaned and when I left, the parents were well rested and refreshed to spend the rest of the day loving on their girl (and eating yummy food)!
Oh how Steve and I wish we knew what a Postpartum Doula was when our kids were born!!!! If you (or someone you know) is pregnant, feel free to reach out with questions!
Its truly such an honor to spend time with families during this extremely special and intimate time. #grateful 🙏🏻

New career alert 🙀🙀🙀🙀
So excited to be passing along everything I’ve learned over the last 3 years to families as a Postpartum Doula 💓
I got to spend time with this little angel baby yesterday while cooking/meal prepping for the family, folding a load of baby clothes and sharing all my tricks for feeding/burping a baby and setting up a good sleep foundation 🥺😊 I came home to the nicest message from the new mom expressing her gratitude and I’m just feeling really lucky to have found my calling 🙏🏻
What can a Postpartum Doula do for you?
A postpartum doula’s role is to care for the mother and family so that they can better care for and enjoy their baby. Traditional cultures all over the world emphasize the importance of mothering the new mother, and that’s what I’m there to do. While everyone is asking you about the baby and talking about how cute she is, I will be the one asking about you. Making sure you’re hydrated, well fed and as rested as you can be. With postpartum doula care you will be nurtured through the delicate postpartum period and provided with tools, resources, and information as you discover, set, and begin to achieve your parenting goals.
Jessie, words cannot describe how much I appreciate everything you have done for my family. It is really hard going back to work but it was a lot easier on days I knew you would be here.
Kristen
Jessie was flexible to my needs and promoted bonding time, rest and nutrition in a time I needed it. If I could change one thing I would have had her start sooner!
Kim
She was so helpful, so easy to talk to and we’re so glad she was here!
Olga
The only thing I would change is having you stay longer!
Kristen
Jessie made sure I rested, but also helped me accomplish my daily “goals”. She’s amazing!
Kim
Mamas and families are so lucky to have such a kind of knowledgeable soul in their homes after birth!
